Valdez boasts salmon runs of Kings (chinook), Pinks (humpy), and Silvers (coho). Each of these fish come to Port Valdez at different times of the summer (see fish chart at bottom), and all offer great salmon fishing action. You may have heard the Alaskan expression "There are so many salmon you could walk across the water on their backs and not get wet" This explains the pink and silver runs of Valdez very well. You can expect non-stop action on our salmon charters. For silvers and pinks we offer half-day trips, because that is all you will need to get tired reeling these fish in. For the hearty that want to have fun all day, we do offer full day trips.
Silvers generally weight in at 10 pounds, but the derby winners are up in the 18 pound range. These fish are known for their fighting ability and acrobatics as you work them to the boat. Silver fishing is done by trolling Port Valdez.

AK Fish and Game and the City of Valdez have been working, by stocking fry, to build a King (chinook) Salmon fishery in the port. Every year seems to get better and better for King fishing. These fish can be very large, up to 50 pounds, but they average about 20 pounds. The trips for Kings are done all summer and are full day trips. We will be trolling the area around Port Valdez for these fish. Sometimes we will have our limit in the first hour, but other days we may not see any.

Their not all giants, but the fisher is happy
